Poems & Short Stories for Sasha Obama & Family

Michelle Obama,"Renaissance," is real and she's calm. These traits are shared by many of the poems and short stories of Eloquence: Rhythm & Renaissance. This collection is about personal growth, nature and spirituality. It encourages appreciation for the artistry in nature, ourselves, others, our culture and our blessings.

The poem Motherly acknowledges Michelle Obama's constant care and concern for her children during these extremely demanding times for their family:

I’ve pictured you,
pouring your essence into my upbringing
clothing me in mist-like freshness
masterfully, continually.

The poem I Won't Hurt You In A Way That I Know Will is an ode to Princess Diana and any woman that is important to us and that we admire and love. It warns of excessiveness. I pray we will give Michelle Obama space to focus on her kids and family while her husband tries to save the country.

If I had known, true love shown
Taunts infatuation, ‘til overblown
I would not have obeyed, the natural order
Instead, withheld praise of your loving ways
Hidden the flickering gaze of, heart ablaze
Left my soul on the carousel
Never revealed your sweet sweet name
If it fanned foolish, consuming flames
Until escape from this confusing love throng
Became heaven’s arms, beckoning you home

Fanta's Sky is a truthful account of witnessing a moonbow and also a fanciful description of how a moonbow is created by the innocence and youthful exuberance of a little girl. It seems custom made for Malia Obama, "Radiance."

Envision a grand flourish, a robust flair
The arching path of a vibrant soul
A ribbon from a sky maiden’s hair
Clear bright night, creating a moonbow

The poem Eloquence seems to fit Natasha Obama, "Sasha" aka "Rosebud" quite nicely. Artistry and creativity are protrayed in the feminine sense due to art's comfort, beauty, range of styles and the way it captures and engages the emotions as the girl child, Artistry matures and helps us mature and come into our own.

Gratitude and praise were unto the child as sustenance
She flourished
Moving with the ease of grace and bravery
Aroused their wonder
When she breathed, possibilities emerged
Her presence felt as laughter’s lingering satisfaction

You can imagine Sasha Obama being quite similar to the child in Why We Need Peach Trees & Kids.

Nominated for a 2008 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work - Poetry.

And now for the distinguished gentleman from Illinois by way of Hawaii, President Elect Barack Obama "Renegade."

You have set the world ablaze and these words from the poem Wanna Wannabe describe the fiery passion of change you have set in the wildest of imaginations and hopes.

I don’t wanna make love
Or
Be in love
I wanna be love.
I don’t wanna sing
Or
Compete for things
I wanna be the song
I wanna be the dream.
I don’t wanna be inspired
I wanna be the flame.

Barack Obama has given millions of people the courage to sometimes jump!

In a sense, this select group of poems and short stories along with several others found in Eloquence: Rhythm & Renaissance could be renamed, The Obamas: Renegade & Renaissance. Together, Michelle and Barack Obama are eloquence for the strength of their love and for who they are.

I like the way you stimulate my mind to think beyond the norm. —Karen, Thornton, IL
