Motherly
I’ve imagined you holding me,
tenderly, gratefully,
then birthing me,
apprehensively, lovingly.
I’ve pictured you,
pouring your essence into my upbringing,
clothing me in mist-like freshness,
masterfully, continually.
I feel the resilient strength of our bond,
though we are changing, maturing;
Thus, your embrace loosens,
affectionately, prayerfully.
Thank you,
for refining, encouraging.
I value and respect you.
Understanding you reveals the beauty,
of living faithfully, unselfishly.

This is a great poem for mothers, grandmothers, caregivers and women. This can and should be shared anytime and especially as a poem for Mother's Day and Grandparent's Day. It is versatile enough to apply to fathers just as much as mothers. It's easy to appreciate someone who has cared for us and taken care of us. It takes personal growth to do so when some of the things related to our upbringing perhaps were not to our liking. Share this with someone who deserves to be acknowledged and respected for being Motherly overall.
